How to Prepare for Expos

Here are some suggestions for questions to ask current students and school reps:

  • What type of school would be best for me? Small, large, rural, urban, single gender, co-ed, military, pre-professional arts, etc.
  • In what part of the US would be a great place for me to attend school?
  • What school best fits my learning style and interests?
  • No one in my family has ever attended boarding school. Are there other students like me?
  • How interested is the student in attending a boarding school?
  • What are you all about? What's your school's mission and philosophy?
  • What are the school’s special programs, extra-curriculur activities and basic curriculum?
  • When are sporting events held? Will we play other prep schools?
  • What type of application test does the school require? What’s the process and timeline?
  • What is the school’s average college acceptance rate?
  • Will the student have a single or double room? Or maybe a suite? Do all students have roommates?
  • What is the teacher/student ratio at the school? In the classroom and in the dormitory?
  • What is the average class size?
  • What days of the week will I have class?
  • What is the tuition and what are the financing options?
  • How does the school keep in touch with parents? Will my parents be aware of how I'm doing in school?
